Wabash Railroad and Michigan Railroads

Welcome to the Internet home of the once late and great
Wabash Railroad Company
and
Michigan short lines and logging railroads.

Sorry but I do not have any Wabash employee information and I do not know where you can find this information.  The Wabash affectively vanished over 40 years ago and no corporations are required to keep past employee information that long.

What's new or new-ish?

July 20, 2008:  Added some new Wabash photos including GP7's, a GP9, F7 and E8.

April 23, 2008:  Don Williams of Georgia won a couple of my Wabash negatives and I asked him about his Wabash passenger car collection.  Don was kind enough to send some photos and description of the cars.  Take a look HERE.

We do not have any Wabash Railroad Employment Records:

We do not have any employment records or information.  If you are seeking information about a person, you can check to see if there is a record for the person at the Railroad Retirement Board.  The address is:

U.S. Railroad Retirement Board
Office of Public Affairs
844 North Rush Street
Chicago, Illinois 60611-2092

This organization has a web page that goes into the details of ordering these records for genealogical research at Railroad Retirement Board.   These records only date from about the mid-1930s.

You might also check the Norfolk Southern web site but I would not expect to find anything.  Corporations are not in the genealogy business and are only required to maintain former employment records for seven years.

However, if you have a question about where railroads ran and when, I have a collection of Official Railway Guides and maps and will be happy to try to answer your questions.  I, too, have an interest in genealogy.
